New Year, New Inspiration.

January 5, 2016

On January 1st, 2016 I woke up under the same roof as some of the folks I love most. Because most of us are usually five hours apart by car or flight, we decided to make the most of it and hop in the car for a little adventure.

We drove up to Point Reyes, a fragment of coastline north of San Francisco, with only a short stop at the last town around for some snacks and supplies.

We stayed on that coastline from noon until night. The waves crashed loudly, and whales swam less than a mile from shore. Watching that sunset was the closest thing to magic I’ve seen in some time.

You might be wondering what any of this has to do with the New Year. I’m here to tell you that the most powerful role a new year plays (for me, anyway) is in encouraging the search for new inspiration.

I spent some time over the holidays thinking about how I can make the most out of this new year, and to be honest, I got overwhelmed. I started imagining what I should do, and almost immediately felt weight placed on my shoulders. So I’m trying to take this somewhat scary year one day at a time and be present for all of the insane beauty and adventure I know has to offer. I’m happy to report Day 1 was amazing, and that I managed to capture some of its best moments. I hope you enjoy them too!
