Practicing Embroidery at the Brooklyn Craft Company

A couple weeks back, my friend Tiffany signed the two of us up for an embroidery workshop at the Brooklyn Craft Company. This was the perfect follow up to my creative goals for 2017– learning a new creative skill with my best friend! We were tasked with embroidering a (seemingly) simple peace sign in the span of a couple hours. I captured the process to share with y’all:

embroidery crafting brooklyn craft company creativestayMy favorite types of workshop classes involve making a lot of mistakes and course-correcting. There were a lot of teachable moments, but our instructor was patient with us.

embroidery crafting brooklyn craft company creativestayStep 1: Trace the printed design using transfer paper. I’d never used transfer paper before, but it made setting up the pattern super easy. I can see myself using this for several other crafts.

embroidery crafting brooklyn craft company creativestayStep 3: Fill in the color detail. For the nail polish, I went with a dusty rose. Tiffany picked a cherry red.
