CREATE INSPIRE

Shifting Your Creative Focus

February 16, 2018

It took some serious reflecting to realize that my creativity wasn’t drying up, but rather changing shape. Instead of crafting and photography, I found myself looking up recipes and lusting after cookbooks. Learning to bake (thanks Dianne!) and trying new ingredients. The excitement I felt (and still feel) in that arena reminded me of the first few cards I ever made.

Now, I’m not saying this blog will turn into a cooking space, but rather, it’s okay to occasionally change course. Even if it’s temporary! Follow the inspirations that strike you. Everything you learn will eventually become a frame of reference and a starting point for a new creative venture. And it’s the culmination of many skills and hobbies that create really special things, and lead you down a path you didn’t previously realize was there.

Just wanted to share a little reminder, since I’m sure we’ve all gone through this. And if you’re currently struggling with a bout of non-inspiration, I highly recommend trying something new.  It’s one of the best ways to rekindle your love for all things creative!
