Weekend in the City: Los Angeles

May 18, 2015

Sometimes, life gets crazy and a little dull at the same time. I have never found that to be inspiring or conducive to happiness, so I decided to buy a last-minute ticket to visit one of my lovely friends in Los Angeles. Taking the time to go on an adventure can be really rejuvenating, and I haven’t made it down south in nearly six months – so this trip was way overdue. Megan and I explored some of our favorite neighborhoods in LA, making sure to swing by the beach, top-notch coffee, and our favorite shops (among other things). Here are a few photos, highlighting bits and pieces of my weekend in the city.

We had to stop by the beautiful Alfred Coffee & Kitchen, of course. That almond croissant was probably the best one I’ve ever had.

But first, coffee. Another shot of Alfred’s.

My first night there, we decided to go on a bit of an adventure. We went out to the Santa Monica pier and sat on the swings, ocean roaring in the background, the sun just about to rise. Whenever Megan and I reunite, we always have a magical moment or two, just like this one.

The next morning, I idly wondered aloud, “It would be so nice if we could hang out by a rooftop pool, drinks in hand.” Without hesitating, Megan said it was a plan. We walked over to the Wilshire Hotel, and it was the greatest thing. Highly recommended.

On my last day, we explored Abbot Kinney. I’ve been there before, but every time I stop by it’s so visually refreshing – every store has design top of mind. The above shot is from Intelligentsia Coffee (totally stunning, with interior concrete steps you can lounge on).

LA is so lovely and warm and full of things that are lovely to look at. (And things that aren’t, but let’s focus on the aesthetically-pleasing, shall we?) The last week of my life has been crazy, but I’m cooking up some rad things for creativestay! Stay tuned!

xo,
