Noting the little things that amaze and inspire you throughout your days is essential to living a happy and creative life. It’s a good way to keep your head above water when life gets monotonous or overwhelming, and an even better way to concisely remember moments you could surely write about.
In the last week, 5 amazing things I saw:
1. Hundreds of bikers flying down the same four blocks for hours at twilight. You couldn’t capture them on camera, you couldn’t hear a sound from their airless flight. The only way you knew they were coming (and to get out of the way) was by the cheers of those who posted themselves on the curb. It reminded me that magic was real.
2. Going to a “Raving Twenties” party, and seeing everyone dressed to the nines and doing the Charleston. It was spectacular.
3. Waking up this fine and foggy morning, and wanting nothing to do with technology. So I put on an old Andy Williams vinyl, and let him croon into every room in my apartment. And probably into those of my neighbors (oops!)
4. Visiting a dear friend I hadn’t seen in seven months (and before that she was in Paris), and spending the entire day with her and her colorful home and family fit for dreams. I feel utterly blessed for having been a part of their day, really.
5. Sipping Prosecco out of teacups and watching Midnight in Paris: getting giddy when every literary figure strolled onscreen. Hemingway. The Fitzgeralds. Picasso. Dali–– Oh, I can hardly stand it!
