Hey guys, it’s been a while. I usually feel that there are no good reasons to step away from a passion project, but these days work has been a very real one. So I’m sorry for my absence, but I’m back and ready to party!
I’m actually here today to share a tour of an outstanding San Francisco bookstore. It’s called Alley Cat Books, and it’s in the Mission. I went on a book crawl with a good friend of mine, and I was totally blown away by how many quality book shops we came across. I chose to feature Alley Cat because their point of view, selection, and space were unparalleled. The organization of the books had everything to do with staff favorites– I saw books from years ago featured up front, which I’m all about. Shoutout to Adobe books, who also stole a little piece of my heart.
See what I mean about the selection? Several of the books across the tables also had handwritten reviews tucked into the front cover, which is my favorite kind of thing.
My friend Sahar poring over books. I never would have found this spot without her!
The further into the store you go, the brighter it gets. In the very back, the ceiling lift up and there is a small art gallery. This was probably my favorite space in the store.
I kind of love this piece of art. The colors, the tone… yup, definitely an art crush.
There was a crazy, beautiful selection of art books spread around the gallery area.
Is it silly to wish I had this kind of nook in my own home? You know, the dream home where I have a yard and a private library. No biggie.
The art was made by local artists, and there were some really interesting pieces. I want to go back soon to catch the change in art.
Looking back toward the bookstore portion. Fact: the best kind of bookstore is crammed to the roof.
